Work Wear Friday – Dec. 22, 2017

Happy Friday!! I’m so excited that Christmas is on Monday. This week has flown by pretty quick, despite how excited I’ve been. It doesn’t help that I got a cold this week. So most of the week was spent focusing on comfort (even more than usual).

I’m very blessed with many aspects of my job, but one of the nice perks is that we are heavily on the casual side of the business casual spectrum. Of course, when I do wear a pullover, it’s something my company gave to me. Otherwise, I prefer to look on the nicer. Always dress for the job you want, not the job you have! I meet a lot of new people all the time and it’s important to make a good impression. Especially in Real Estate Development.

SO. Here’s the week:

Getting close to the end of my fall/winter wardrobe for work before I will start repeating things, so what all I have left are things I haven’t picked yet. When I went through my stuff, I purged everything I didn’t like, so I do like what I have left. But sometimes I forget how much I like things until I put then on. This shirt is a good example of that. It’s just plain navy with pockets, but has a cute V neck design and the pleats in the front. Looking at it on the hanger, it’s not as appealing. But when I put it on, I love it. Paige jeans, my grey Express sweater, and grey booties. The necklace was a gift from my best friend 2 Christmases ago, and I love the navy bead on it to match this top.

Tuesday I wore this plum Express Portofino blouse and another pair of my Paige skinny jeans. I have this shirt in 6 colors, I think. It fits great and can be easily dressed up or down. I love my OTK boots; they keep my legs warm. I added a black floral statement necklace to have less of a plain look. Throw on one of my Express cardigans, and I’m off.

My cold really started to kick in Wednesday and I just wanted to be comfortable. Another one of the gifts my company gave me was this embroidered Eddie Bauer pullover. It’s warm and simple and perfect for a sick day. I hate missing work, but ended up being sent home early, as they didn’t want my germs lol. My Level 99 jeans are so comfortable, too. I got them in one of my Stitch Fix boxes.

The cold was in full effect Thursday. Ugh, I didn’t want to do anything but lay in bed. BUT, I love my job. So I sucked it up and went to work. One of my big fluffy scarves was the way to go. These Liverpool jeans are like butter, it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing jeans at all.

YAY! I made it! I felt much better on Friday, so I had to play up the Christmas spirit. I took my Office Christmas presents to work for everyone. It’s a tradition in my family to give ornaments to each other every year, so I decided to give everyone an ornament based on what they like. I wore another of my Express Portofino shirts, another pair of Paige jeans, and my Christmas tree earrings I got last year at Target. They’re so cute. I also got my nails done to be more festive. I only worked 4 hours today, so I was thinking about wearing this again on Christmas Day. What do you think??

  • 🥰Our first Valentine’s Day being married was so special! Nothing like getting a beautiful arrangement of roses, right ladies?! Jake had them use pink and lavender roses and lavender sprigs between them to fill it out instead of baby’s breath. It smells so good!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day ❤️
  • Happy Valentine’s Day!! I’m working on a little DIY a project today 😍 can’t wait to be done and see the finished result. And to celebrate ❤️ day with hubby later! I hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with love. P.S. — 2 years ago I was single on Valentine’s Day and I made myself a whole cake 🎂 so don’t be afraid to treat yo’self 😎 just sayin! #liketkit

  • Comfy casual for errands is my style 👌🏻 also I love this hat because on the days I don’t feel like doing anything with my hair, hats are a lifesaver. And dry shampoo 😂. I put a poll up on my stories yesterday asking if you guys want to see a series of posts on #cozyminimalism and the answer was an overwhelming yes! I’ve already started working on them and will start posting next week so stay tuned!! In the mean time, check out my post on 12 ways you’re wasting money on clothes and how to stop. We’re all guilty of it 🤷🏻‍♀️. Click the link in my profile to read! #liketkit
  • Fun fact day about my wonderful husband: Jake has this uncanny ability to make me smile and laugh even when I’m sick. I was in bed all weekend but somehow he managed to still make me feel better.
He is the king of puns and loves to make corny jokes. I’m talking real bad dad jokes. But I think they’re hilarious, and his enthusiasm and the fact that HE finds them so funny is the best part.

It’s the little things like this that showed me he was my perfect person. That and he told me he was going to marry me after 3 weeks of dating 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ which also made my laugh at the time but 9 months later he was down on one knee!
That was also the same day I tried to break up with him because I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and I was starting to like him way too much too soon. I told him I wasn’t ready for another relationship and he literally said “are you trying to break up with me? We’re gonna get married.” I busted out laughing but he was so serious.
Even then, I could tell he really believed that. Now 4 months into our marriage he still shows me every day he wants to be married to me ❤️👰🏻🤵🏻 We have to appreciate the little things like the bad jokes because the effort behind them is how people say “I love you” in other ways. Happy Monday 💕#marriedlife💍 #marriagegoals
