Breaking Out the Christmas Decor
It’s officially mid-November, and I’ve been itching since the 1stto start decorating for Christmas. This is my favorite time of year for so many reasons. First, because people tend to be in a much better mood around Christmas. Second, because there is nothing I love more than giving people gifts. It’s one of my specialties in life. And there’s just a happiness in the air. It’s pretty magical, if you ask me.
I like to enjoy Christmas as much as possible, which is what made me so eager to get my stuff up this year. It’s also partly because this will be my first Christmas away from my family. Normally I go home once a year for Christmas. But this year, Jake and I are going the week of Thanksgiving and staying here to have Christmas with his family.
Since we’ll be gone for the entire week of Thanksgiving, by the time we get back, it’ll be December. Add that to the fact that I don’t start my new job until the 16th, I have a lot of free time. Along with running this blog and doing my homework, I just wanted something else to do! So I broke out the Christmas boxes.
Since moving to Kansas City, I’ve tried to get rid of a lot of stuff. The one thing that I haven’t sacrificed is my Christmas collection. Actually, it keeps growing. But really, can you blame me?? It’s the best holiday!! My childhood Christmases were one of the few times every year when my entire family got together, and I will always love that feeling of putting up the tree with my mom and sister and all of us opening presents together Christmas morning. Even as an adult those are things I still love to do.
Now since it IS still kind of early, I didn’t break out the tree yet. I will hold that off until we get back after Thanksgiving. My sister is also letting us put up her Christmas tree while we’re there so we can all do it together! I’m thrilled about that.
Without further ado, here is the before and after of my living room, as that’s the main thing I decorate. Keep in mind, there WILL be a tree in 2 weeks!
